Mount Tomah + Bilpin
Airbnb + Stayz
If you're wanting to stay as close as possible to the wedding venue, then Airbnb and Stayz is the way to go! There are a few properties available around the Mount Tomah and Bilpin area, but there are a couple of other wedding spots close by so I suggest that you get in early just in case we're not the only ones exchanging nuptials that weekend.
Airbnb + B&B's
The next point of contact down the mountain is Kurrajong. Depending on where in Kurrajong you stay, it's a 20-35 minute drive to Mount Tomah. This area is littered with Airbnb and Stayz properties so it's a great plan B if you fail to find something in Mount Tomah. If there are any couples that won't be house sharing with a larger group, there are a couple of B&B's in this area too (linked below).
Hotels + Motels
At the bottom of the mountain you'll find Richmond which is around 40 minutes away from Mount Tomah. We've included information about accomodation in this area because it's the closest suburb to get hotel accomodation. Please let us know if you book one of these locations, so that we can put you in contact with anyone else staying there and organise a ride share.
Burralow Creek Campground
For those who don't mind roughing it, the closest campsite to Mount Tomah is Burralow Creek Campground (still a 45 minute drive). It's free- and it's also free of power and ammenities so if you go down this route you might want to get ready at home and then set up your tent before coming to the wedding. I don't know how fun/safe it will be, stumbling off drunk into the wilderness but I thought I would just put the option out there as people have asked me about camping options.
Getting To and From
No one wants to be designated driver to a wedding. These occasions are a chance to let our hair down, overindulge and let our freak flags fly. So you're probably wondering how you're going to get from your accomodation to the wedding in an area that probably hasn't yet heard of Uber.
Our first recommendation, especially for those travelling in groups, would be mini bus hire. This would work out to be the most economical way per person to travel. Keep checking this page for specific recommendations as we work on getting quotes.
Alternatively, you can rely on taxi's although it can obviously be pretty pricey especially depending on how far down the mountain you're staying. We will also be alerting cab companies of the reception end time so they will be around to pick you up.
Bilpin Fruit Bowl
Bilpin is known for it's apples, so what is a weekend in the Bilpin area without picking some fruit? You can pick your own peaches starting in mid-November which is perfect timing for us! Open weekends for pick-your-own from 10am to 4pm, entry costs $2.50.
2093 Bells Line of Road, Bilpin NSW. Call: 02 4567 1152 or 0404 061 262. Season: Mid-November-late February.
